Did you have any idea that almost half the world's population (2.6 billion people) have no access to a toilet? Or that one gram of poo can contain 10 million viruses, one million bacteria and 1,000 parasite cysts. Or that improper disposal of human waste, contaminated water and poor hygiene cause over 80% of all disease in the developing world, giving rise to preventable diseases that kill 5,000 children every single day.
Here's a unique opportunity to draw attention to what is arguably, the most important global development issue of our time. It is also a great chance to establish or further your stand-up comedy career, using humour to disgust, shame, shock, inspire and motivate others to join in the global campaign for better sanitation provision in the lead up to World Toilet Day 2011.
